Lifestyle Newborn Sessions

Tallahassee, FL

Saturday, June 15, 2013  |  Portrait
After starting my own family in 2010 I realized how quickly the newborn phase of their life passes by. After that time is over the late night feedings and cries in the middle of the night seem to fade into a very distant memory and all I want to re-live is how small they were and really begin to miss that. That experience in my life lead me to realize the importance of truly capturing them in that time. As much as I love beautiful portraits of sleeping newborn babies I wanted something a little different for mine and began offering that in my own newborn sessions. With that the birth of my Lifestyle Newborn Sessions came to life. I encourage parents to choose a time of the day when their babies are awake and most responsive so we can capture those tiny little budding personalities. I want to photograph them in their element rather than in front of a backdrop or something not familiar.

I work with my clients to create wall art and small prints that best suit their life and style. In order to give my clients exactly what they need we meet after the shoot for an ordering session. I have found that if I help my clients choose the right images and sizes for their homes they know what to do with their images but without an ordering session they aren't quite sure what to do with them and the images aren't used. My goal is to give you images that you will be able to have for a lifetime and pass on to the next generation to also hang on their walls.
FAQ:

What should we wear?

-With newborns I suggest keeping it as simple as possible. Even if they are a big baby they aren't very big yet and can get swallowed up in their attire if they have on too much. Most sessions the baby is photographed with nothing but a diaper and a blanket wrapped around them so we don't distract from their faces but we will have enough time to change them throughout the session if there is an outfit you really want them to wear. As for parents and siblings I recommend that you wear something you love and feel great in! Especially new moms! Your family personality is the most important but also keep in mind you will be displaying these images in your home so stay away from clashing colors to your current decor. Also stay away from being overly matched with each other. Let your clothes reflect your personality and style while keeping in mind your interactions and family bond is the focus of the shoot.

What if my baby won't stop crying?

-Let's still start the session and see if they calm down. Many times I will show up and the baby is crying but then calms down after a while. If we feel that the session is too difficult to do because they won't stop crying then we can reschedule for another day.

Who should be included in the session?

-Your immediate family. Wild older siblings, mom and dad. The entire immediately family should be included.

How long should I expect the session to last?

-Plan on up to two hours but sometimes it may be shorter. It also completely depends on your new baby.

When should I feed the baby?

-Feed your baby right before the session so they are calm and not hungry. If they are asleep we can still great amazing images in their element and will start with portraits of them alone or being held.

What's the best location for the session?

-Your home.

Thursday, September 29, 2011  |  Portrait
When our family started growing I made the decision to cut back and focus on weddings and stop doing portrait sessions... Until Tori called. I shot Tori's wedding in March of 2010 and then her sister's wedding this past July. I've grown to adore this family and was honored to be able to shoot their most recent member.

Introducing Madison Hope! Daughter, niece and granddaughter to a wonderful family!
